Aluminum foil sealing film is usually not directly used for iron can sealing due to compatibility issues between its heat sealing principle and the characteristics of metal containers. However, some application scenarios can still be achieved through special design: 

1、 Limitations of Conventional Aluminum Foil Film 

Hot sealing adhesive mismatch 

The heat sealing adhesive of ordinary aluminum foil film (such as EVA) is designed for plastic/glass bottle mouths and cannot form effective adhesion with metal surfaces. The rigid material and surface oxide layer of the iron can hinder the adhesion of the heat sealing adhesive. 

Differences in sealing equipment 

Iron cans traditionally use edge sealing or gasket pressing processes, while aluminum foil film requires a flat plate heat sealing machine, and the two devices are incompatible. 

2、 Possible alternative solutions 

If aluminum foil barrier layer needs to be used in iron cans, the following methods can be considered: 

Composite metal cover gasket 

Pre install aluminum foil composite gaskets (including high-temperature resistant adhesive layer) on the inside of the iron can lid, and achieve sealing through mechanical pressing. 

Customized adhesive formula (such as epoxy resin) is required to ensure adhesion with metal. 

Secondary packaging process 

First, cover the opening of the iron can with aluminum foil film, and then add a plastic cover or shrink wrap to fix it (commonly used in tea cans and gift packaging). 

3、 Applicable scenarios and precautions 

Applicable situation: 

Short term moisture protection of dry food (such as milk powder and biscuits) 

Gift packaging with non strict airtight requirements 

Not applicable: 

Liquid, gas containing products or drugs that require long-term sealing 

High temperature sterilization or high-pressure environment 

4、 Professional advice 

If you need a high sealing solution for iron cans, we recommend: 

Traditional tinplate edge sealing (low cost, high reliability) 

Customized aluminum foil composite metal cover (combining barrier properties and mechanical sealing) 

The feasibility of directly sealing iron cans with aluminum foil film is low. It is recommended to consult the sealing material supplier and choose an appropriate solution according to specific needs.
